stablished in 1986, Wallace Galleries Ltd is located in the core of down town Calgary. Our location is on the main floor of the Chevron Plaza. We have 16’ ceilings and about 3000 square feet of exhibition space. For your convenience, there is a framing shop (RJ Hope Fine Art Framing) on the premises.

Wallace Galleries Ltd. focuses on Canadian Contemporary art work. We represent a variety of up & coming and well established, senior artist from across Canada that work in various mediums (oils, acrylics, ceramics, bronzes, watercolor, mixed media, etc).

The gallery is located at 500 – 5th Avenue SW and is open from 10am to 5:30pm Monday through Saturday. Private appointments are available upon request.

All works, unless marked sold, are for sale on our website.

“SOME TIPS OF THE TRADE”
  • Hanging artwork on two picture hooks is preferable as movement is reduced significantly
  • It is not necessary to find a stud to hang paintings
  • Art work is hung at eye level seated in a room
    • exceptions would be in a hallway or over a mantel
  • The centre of the paintings should be aligned (not the top or bottom)
  • Do not “jug” or stagger paintings on a wall unless going up a stairwell.
  • Mix and match your mediums, artists and subjects – keeps things interesting!
  • You can hang paintings lower then your furniture
  • Do the unexpected!
    • Hang a figure painting in the kitchen and a still life in the living room
    • Make groupings! Even with different artists
    • Don’t centre all the art on the wall, create specific areas in a room based on where your hang your art.
  • Don’t be afraid of size! Some areas and walls look fabulous with an oversized piece of art/
  • TRY ARTWORK OUT!!!  You never really know what it will look like in your space just by taking a measurement.
  • Buy what YOU like because in the end, YOU have to live it
  • Don’t be afraid – ask questions. We are here to help you find that special piece!
